Join us in Worship Hall
We gather on Sundays, in-person in Worship Hall and online via our YouTube livestream, to celebrate our faith and community and to deepen our spiritual understandings of ourselves, those around us, and the world in which we live.

Questions about Worship at FirstU? Read on!
What goes on during a worship service?
Our Sunday services last for about an hour. Greeters meet people at the door and hand them an Order of Service and can help provide seating. A service usually includes a welcome to guests and new members, a sermon, meditation, readings, hymns, and choral singing. Our worship draws upon all world religions as well as science, psychology, the social sciences, history, and philosophy. We include visual arts as well as musical ones, and often include short dramas and moments of celebration. We speak often about justice, equality, and fairness. Our services are multi-generational - children and youth are more than welcome, and childcare is available from 9:00am to noon on Sundays.
What should I wear to a service?
We are an informal congregation, and you can wear whatever makes you comfortable. Our congregation members wear anything from 'Sunday clothes' to t-shirts and jeans. There are places for coats and boots along the back walls of Worship Hall.
Getting to Church by Bus, Bike, and Car
We are bus (route 11 - Richmond/Cleary and Richmond/Redwood stops) and bike (Gichizibi Mikan bike trail includes an exit to our campus) accessible, and have bike racks available near our lower level entrance.
If you're driving, we provide free parking at the west side of our building. Check our Cleary Detour page for up to date information regarding getting to our Campus via Richmond Rd during the LRT Construction.
Is the building wheelchair-accessible?
Yes, there is an elevator just inside the west side entrance.
I'm Queer, I'm Trans, What About FirstU?
We are too! Our Welcoming Congregation includes lesbian, bi, trans, gay, het, pan, cis, and nonbinary folks.
Is there a Sunday school for children?
Yes. Children participate in the first 10 minutes of the Sunday service which includes the Chalice Lighting and a Story. They then leave for their Religious Exploration programs. Many of the services through our church year are multigenerational, with the youngest members of our congregation taking an active role.
What about babies, toddlers, and children who may not want to go to RE?
All children are welcome to stay for the full Sunday service, and we set up each Sunday with a variety of Quiet Play Activities to engage young children who stay in the Sanctuary with their parents. If kids get restless, their parents can take the to the Lounge (childcare is NOT provided in the Lounge) to regroup and have some quiet time. We also have a dedicated Children's Area (Room 4, the Chalice Room) where qualified childcare supervisors are on hand from 9:00am to Noon.
What happens after the Sunday Service?
We have an in-person Hospitality Hour in Fellowship Hall. If you’re a guest or visitor, please stop at the Welcome Table for refreshments and conversation. The link for the online Fellowship Hour can be found in our weekly eUU newsletter. If you're visiting for the first time, or just feeling new, please grab a green mug during Hospitality Hour to let us know so we can say Hello! Feeling peckish? Our friends from Mia's Indian Cuisine are generally on hand with a variety of hot food items for sale.
