After an unexpected and very rapid decline in health while travelling, Elisabeth Renger passed away peacefully in Munich, Germany on Wednesday May 15, in her 75th year. Her last breaths were taken in the company of both her daughters, with her favourite music playing in the background.
Predeceased by her parents Gerardus Bernardus Bartholomeus Renger and Dina Sara Petronella van den Berg as well as her siblings Gerrit Renger (Tootje) and Mien Hardenberg (Peter).
She will be sadly missed by her daughters Teresa (Patrick) and Anita (Rich), grandchildren Kaitlyn, Tyler and Kieran, her former spouse Gys, her siblings Wim (Ineke), Nelly (Wim), Gerard (Pineke) and Nico, her nieces and nephews, as well as her many friends from all around the world.
Elisabeth was born in Rijssen, Netherlands in 1943 and immigrated to Canada in 1968. She married Gys Van Barneveld in 1970 and they raised their children together for the next 22 years. She was a cherished mother and Oma, as well as an inspirational and devoted teacher, with a career spanning over 50 years in both the Netherlands and Canada. She received her teacher's certificate at the University of Utrecht, attained 2 Bachelor of Arts degrees at McMaster and then her Masters degree in Anthropology at Carleton. She spent 15 years teaching at St. Michael's Elementary school in Dunnville before moving with her family to Ottawa, where she taught at Fielding Drive for 10 years and then at Carleton Heights. She finished her career with the Canadian government as a Dutch, English and French teacher and tester.
Elisabeth had a passion and a talent for languages (she spoke seven) as well as music and poetry. She was especially motivated to see the world and was an avid traveler. Her most recent trips were to China, Morocco and India - all of these while she was in her seventies! She was truly talented at storytelling, as both her grandchildren and former student can attest to. Countless classrooms and campfires have been enriched by her guitar playing and singing, and her adventurous spirit had touched people around the globe.
She will be fondly remembered and very much missed by her family and friends. May the sight and thought of dolphins and butterflies continue to remind us of her smile and her determination.

Lorna Davis finally succumbed, after a lengthy illness, on Saturday, May 4, 2019, at the age of 93. Loving wife of the late Basil. Devoted mother of Pamela Hassenklover (Wolf), and Murray (Holly). Cherished grandmother of Marianne, Stephen, Michael, David, Elizabeth, and James, and great-grandmother of Jacob and Tyler. Born in Brownsburg, Quebec, where her father worked for CIL, making ammunition for World War II. He died during an explosion in the factory, and her mother took on boarders to make ends meet. Mom, being the youngest in the family, studied hard, graduated from High School, and moved to Montreal, to become a registered nurse at the Montreal General Hospital. She married Basil Davis, a graduate of McGill University, and began a life with him. Together they had two children whom they raised in Montreal, and Rosemere. Mom became a widow after seventeen years of marriage, and from then on was a single mother of two teenagers. She got her degree, and ambitiously rose through the ranks of public health nursing, to become an administrator and a teacher of nursing at McGill University. Upon retiring, Mom moved to Ottawa, to be closer to her daughter and family. Over the years, she babysat and helped out on many an occasion, and she was a devoted mother and grandmother. Mom loved her friends, and was an active volunteer. Mom hasn't been herself these last few years, as her health continued to deteriorate. Mom moved into Unitarian House, and more recently Forest Hill, where she received excellent care. Thank you to everybody who looked after Mom the last few years. She was a truly great lady, and will be badly missed. A private burial will be held by Lorna's family, at a later date. Memorial donations to The Royal Foundation are appreciated.
