It takes a lot of effort to keep the wheels turning

The First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa is funded by its members and it costs about $2,000 per member to keep running our programs and maintaining our building.  We have several different annual campaigns and events to raise funds for the congregation, plus other fundraising events for specific causes.

Pledge Campaign

We hold an annual pledge campaign in the fall - starting in late September and running through late November - that educates our church community about our budget and what is needed to fund us for the  year.
This is, by far, our biggest "fundraiser" of the year. About 70% of FirstU's annual budget is supported directly by pledge donations from members and friends.

Fall Fair at FirstU

The Fall Fair is FirstU’s big fundraising sale and a great community-building event! We welcome your participation - as a volunteer and as a shopper - and your donated goods for our Big Event in mid-November every year.

We acknowledge that our campus is located on traditional, unsurrendered and unceded Algonquin Anishinaabeg Territory; and that the work of reconciliation is a responsibility

of our congregation, and of all Canadians.

Our goal is to educate ourselves and all who have ears to hear, to be of service to those who are at risk, and to advocate for justice.
