Volunteer OpportunitiesGetting more involved in congregational life is a great way to deepen your social and spiritual connections to our community. Volunteering is also a way to exercise your skills as well as learn new ones. Join a Committee/Council. Our committees and councils are the backbone of the congregation. Their members oversee every aspect of our community from taking care of our building, to hiring staff, to setting the budget. Call or e-mail a Chair to see what you can do to help. Learn more about joining a committee/council. Take Action. Are you interested in issues of social justice and environmental sustainability? Or are you interested in caring and supporting those around you? You’ll find ways to express your beliefs and concerns through the many groups in our congregation who work to build awareness of issues and help those in need. Find out how you can take action. Become a VSOP. Volunteer Support Office Personnel, also known as Very Special Office Persons (VSOPs), work morning or afternoon shifts in the office, handling administrative tasks such as answering the phone, sorting mail, and keeping records. Think this might suit you? Contact our Director of Support Services. Be Part of a Program. Sing in one of our choirs, help out with children on Sunday mornings, be a mentor to the young people in our congregation, or offer pastoral care. Interested? We have lots of opportunities for wordsmiths and text designers. You could be on the website writing team; edit and lay out The Parkway Spire, our monthly newsletter; or proof e-UUOttawa, a weekly online bulletin. Traffic Diversion on ClearyWhile Charlesfort Construction is connecting utilities to the Continental construction site at Cleary and Richmond, Cleary Avenue traffic will be diverted to the East Podium Deck of the project, starting August 16 and continuing to August 27. During this period:- The west sidewalk on Cleary will be closed; please use the east sidewalk. - Traffic personnel will be on hand seven days a week, from 7:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m., to direct traffic. - Betweeen 8:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m., signage and traffic barrels will clearly indicate access to Unitarian property.
