Steps to Membership

When you become a member of the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa, you become a vital part of our spiritual and social community and can participate in the decision-making that determines the future of the congregation.

  1. Pick up a membership kit at the Welcome Table at Sunday service or at the church office or download the Membership Application Form and the Permission Form*.
  2. To return the forms, either give them to the Membership Committee member at the Welcome Table at a Sunday service, place them in the Membership Mail slot in the Volunteer Support Room, or mail/fax them to the church office. If mailing/faxing, please write Attn: Membership on your envelope.
  3. Take the "Introducing Ourselves" course provided by the Minister (recommended; not required).
  4. You will be invited to have an informal meeting with our Minister, Rev. John Marsh.
  5. Your application will be presented at the next Board of Directors meeting. When a motion is passed accepting your application, you officially become a member.
  6. You will be invited to the next New Member Recognition ceremony at a Sunday service.
  7. Your name and contact information will appear in the next printing of the Congregational Directory.
  8. You will be invited to complete a pledge form, thereby contributing financially to our community as your personal circumstances permit.
