Steps to Membership
When you become a member of the First Unitarian Congregation of Ottawa, you become a vital part of our spiritual and social community and can participate in the decision-making that determines the future of the congregation.
- Pick up a membership kit at the Welcome Table at Sunday service or at the church office or download the Membership Application Form and the Permission Form.*
- To return the forms, either give them to the Membership Committee member at the Welcome Table at a Sunday service, place them in the Membership Mail slot in the Volunteer Support Room, or mail/fax them to the church office. If mailing/faxing, please write Attn: Membership on your envelope.
- Take the "Introducing Ourselves" course provided by the Minister (recommended; not required).
- You will be invited to have an informal meeting with our Minister, Rev. John Marsh.
- Your application will be presented at the next Board of Directors meeting. When a motion is passed accepting your application, you officially become a member.
- You will be invited to the next New Member Recognition ceremony at a Sunday service.
- Your name and contact information will appear in the next printing of the Congregational Directory.
- You will be invited to complete a pledge form, thereby contributing financially to our community as your personal circumstances permit.
